Apple TV overview
Apple TV lets you enjoy your entire iTunes library on your home theater system.
With Apple TV (2nd generation or later), you can stream content to Apple TV from any computer in your Home Sharing network. To stream content from a computer, the computer needs to be on (not in sleep mode) and iTunes needs to be open.
With Apple TV (1st generation), you can stream content to Apple TV, and also sync Apple TV with your iTunes library, so you can play synced content without turning on your computer or opening iTunes.
It’s easy to tell which Apple TV you have: Apple TV (2nd generation or later) is black, and Apple TV (1st generation) is white. For instructions on setting up your Apple TV, see the Apple TV Setup Guide for your version.
